WHAT IS IT?
An Australasia-wide association of Songwriters. Its headquarters are in Tamworth , but it has branches wherever a sufficient number of members have been able to get together and its interests are truly nation-wide.
It has no paid staff and is operated solely by volunteers.
Its orientation is towards Country Music, but it embraces Australasian writers of all fields.
WHAT ARE ITS AIMS?
To help members to find wider recognition and more lucrative markets for their songs and to improve the quality of their writing.
WHO CAN JOIN?
Anybody who has ever written a song.
WHAT CAN THE TSA DO FOR ME?
It will keep you informed on industry news, song competitions, etc. "A Basic Guide to the Music Industry for Songwriters" will provide you with valuable information on copyright, royalties, etc.
It paves the way to the Country Music Week Songwriters' Workshops in Tamworth every January, where established writers have shared their knowledge with us, and where you can meet and exchange songs with fellow writers of every degree of development. The Workshops climax in the great TSA Songwriters' Concert and Awards presentations, one of the prestige highlights of the whole Tamworth Festival.
Among the valuable fringe benefits, you get a subscription to Capital News, country music's great national magazine. This subscription alone, incidentally, would cost you most of your Membership Fee. Membership is also available without Capital News.
If there is a TSA Branch or group in your area, you can join in its activities. If there is not, then perhaps you can get one started.
WHAT IS THE FUTURE FOR TSA?
We have entered an exciting era for Australian songwriting . Never has its future looked more optimistic. The TSA and YOU can have a big part to play in that future.
How the TSA grows will depend on how many members it gets, how dedicated they are and what kind of management they elect. With the right amount of interest and input, it can grow to the stature, for instance, of an organisation like the Australian Society of Authors, which has achieved enormous advantages for its author members, such as the Public Lending Right legislation and new systems of contracts, to mention only a couple of many.
You will be quite rightly concerned with what the TSA can do for you, but it will be from what you and your fellow members can do for the TSA that its growth will come.
