Biographical Info Determined and inspiring sum up the way country singer-songwriter Aimee Hannan lives her life. The artist released her debut album, Stronger, in 2015, recorded the previous year with Simon Johnson at Hillbilly Hut and graduated from the CMAA Academy of Country Music in January 2016. “I love the way country music tells a story,” she said. “You can hear somebody's song and whether it's their life or about something else, it takes you on a journey.” The 27-year-old has been singing since she was four years old and lived with a medical condition since she could walk, meaning doctors had to amputate part of her right leg, but she didn't let that get in her way. “Music kept me strong going through it,” Hannan said. “It helped me, so I'd like to help others through music. A lot of my songs are about inspiring people such as How Strong You Are.” This first single deals with fighting and surviving and the album covers all the human emotions of determination, heartache, pain and love. Hannan may be from the suburbs south of Sydney, but country is where her heart is. She is a former winner of the Barry Thornton Encouragement Award twice and the vocal and gospel sections at the Capital Country Music Association in Tamworth and was a contestant in World Star Quest in 2010, the Asia-Pacific version of Eurovision, competing in China and making it to the second round. The singer has also played extensively through Victoria, NSW and Queensland, playing festivals and winning plenty of talent quests along the way. Hannan has graduated from both the junior and senior courses of the CMAA Academy of Country Music. The artist said she wanted to further her skills in country music and knew the academy was the place to be after she'd seen other graduates emerge with confidence and industry contacts. Following her academy experience, Hannan said she now planned to record another single, Better Off, that she penned with Drew McAlister and perform at more festivals. She names her influences as Beccy Cole, Martina McBride, Reba McIntyre, Patsy Cline and Cher for her philosophy on life and her attitude.
